At DVC we recently invested in the OAV 370M Pre-mill & Corner Rounding Edgebander. It sounds technical we know! But this new piece of equipment opens up a world of new design opportunities for our customers, so we thought we’d give you the rundown on this machine and what it can help us achieve.
What is an Edgebander?
Let’s start at the beginning. An Edgebander is a machine that is used to cover the exposed sides of materials such as plywood, particle board (known commonly as chipboard) or MDF, increasing the durability and giving the appearance of a solid or more valuable material without the hassle of maintaining one. The machine works by cutting the wood's edge before using an adhesive to attach colourful edge strips or other materials.
It can also be used for decorative purposes, such as making patterns with cut pieces of wood or different types of metal, similar to pieces that we create with our CNC machine!
Why opt for edge banding?
Simply put, edge banding solves the problem of ugly, uncovered, raw edges on furniture, we’ve all been there with flat pack! It also helps stop the effects of liquid spills, humidity, and moisture destroying your beloved interior.
Kitchen sides and drawer fronts which are made of solid wood and have high-pressure laminate tops are the most common places you’ll find edge banding because of their day to day use. At DVC we understand that our camper vans need to be designed for durability, after all, you’ll be living in it! This is why another great quality of edge banding is that it’s also super easy to replace when damaged or worn, which, from time to time happens if you use your van often!
Essentially, edge banding offers a professional finish and in turn, increases the value of your furniture piece making sure your van looks and feels incredible. You can also choose from various decorative tapes available in different colours, finishes, and textures to really personalise your van’s interior.

Our high-spec machine features a pre-milling unit and two diamond milling heads to make sure the workpiece edges are completely straight to the material of the edge being glued, only top quality from our showroom!
The OAV 370M EdgeBander also has a buffing unit that leaves a superb finish on ABS and PVC edges whilst also removing any discolouration, which is often noticeable when working with dark materials. So, no matter your chosen colour or material, you can guarantee a quality finish.
